Mariano and I had a great time at San Diego this past weekend. We headed down for Pride Weekend and it was also my first time down there. San Diego was very beautiful and super chill. I love the rolling hills leading down to the beach. It was incredible. The people were very nice and Pride was lots of fun. I put up the image gallery of San Diego so take a look!
We had an action packed weekend. Even though we got there Friday night and left Sunday afternoon we were able to squeeze in:
+ HillCrest NeighborHood(Gay Area of San Diego)
+ Pride Parade on Saturday
+ Pride Festival at Balboa Park
+ The Beach on Coronado Island (by the famous resort)
+ Baccus Bar
Anyone who has done a vacation with me knows I’m not there to play games We’ll see all the sights possible.

I put up the Red Dress Party Gallery! Check out the pictures they really came out great. I can’t take credit for them because Jim snapped all these pics! He really has an eye for capturing a good frame!
On a quick note, before I head off to bed, I got inspired by my new license plates (KELVO) and decided to make an alias to my website. So now if you go to http://www.kelvo.com/ it will take you to http://www.kelvisdelrio.com/. Try it out Also Vivian wanted me to mention that she should have all the credit for Kelvo since she gave me the nickname back in Junior High. So there Vivian are you happy now???
I’m heading for bed but tomorrow I’ll be posting about my new favorite place: The Zone. More details to come tomorrow!

As always it’s been a long time! I’ve been busy exploring California. My latest adventure has been going to Santa Barbara for the Summer Solstice Parade. The parade was “interesting”. There were no corporate floats allowed so everything was very “creative”. it was the first time that Albert came out to hang out with the gang (Jim, Joe, and I). We had lots of fun. The beach was beautiful, the pier was lots of fun, but the highlight was the bicycle contraption that we rode along the coastline. It was so much fun! To check out the new image galleries follow this link. I definately have to go back to Santa Barbara. It was only about two hours away from Los Angeles. We also had a close encounter with a seal who was beached on the shore. Everyting is chronicled in the image section so make sure to check it out.
I got the cutest license frames for my car. I’m getting my personalized license plates this weekend, it reads “KELVO” because Kelvis was taken. Can you believe it! Anyway I wanted to personalize the plates with something gay so for the back plate I chose rainbow palms and for the front plate (California makes you use two license plates) I got rainbow paws! It looks too cute!
Speaking of Rainbow Paws, I was taken aback during Pride on the amount of gay organizations that existed in Southern California. I noticed that there was one organization missing. There was no organization that centered around pets. I love walking the dogs on the wekeend and taking them out hiking. I thought it would be great if there was a group of gay and lesbians to do it together. Jim and Joe really liked the idea and we decided to start up a club! We are calling it Rainbow Paws and I already registered the domain: www.rainbowpaws.net.
I’m going to have so much fun creating the site and starting the club. I hope it will be a great way to make new friends and give back to the community. As I build the site I’ll be letting you guys know so you can check out my progress and give me some tips! Wish me luck.
I’ve got everyone at work goin on the blog madness! I setup our intranet to be a blog that we can all contribute too. It’s taking a while for everyone adopt to it but we are finally getting a lot of people posting and using it! I’m very proud of it! I would give you guys a link to check it out, but it’s only accessible from within our company so you won’t be able to see it! We also had a new project to build a hiphop toolbar. The toolbar points to the latest news stories relating to HipHop. I let the project manager know that the best implementation would be a blog and they agreed. Here we are a couple of weeks later with a hiphop toolbar that has a blog as a backend. Check it out at http://www.myhiphopspace.com/. Be warned that if you download the toolbar there is spyware embedded with it! Consider yourselves warned!
I almost forgot to mention that I had my first earthquake a couple of weeks ago. It’s pretty sad because it was pretty strong earthquake and it happened during working hours when I was on the fifteenth floor, and I still didn’t feel anything! The earthquake happened right when I was sitting down on my chair so I missed the rocking action that it caused. My coworkers told me that people who move to California have a hard time telling when an earthquakes happens at first. I guess it’s true or I’m numb to the experience. At least I got the first one out of the way! That took a lot of pressure off!

It’s taken me forever but I finally made a gallery of the pictures that I took for LA Pride! To view them follow the link: LA Kelvis Pride Pics. Enjoy and let me know what you think! I’ll soon have the pictures that Jim took in Gallery II. He took way more pictures because my battery died after Paris. Tomorrow I’ll also post about the Pride Events and this past weekend’s trip to Santa Barbara for the Summer Solstice Parade! It was amazing!

Well I’ve been neglecting my blog hardcore! Enough is enough. It’s pretty bad that I got everyone at work excited about the 411web Blog that I created for them as our intranet. I felt like I was cheating on my personal blog. So now I’m inspired to write. There have been a lot of things going on, and a lot of pictures to show! Let’s start the show by blogging about my birthday bash mid-May.
Originally Rafael and Luis were going to come down to Los Angeles and we were going to spend the weekend in San Francisco. Of course that didn’t happen. Luis canceled on the whole trip because he got a job working for a lawfirm so he couldn’t make the trip down since he had just started working there. Rafael almost canceled because he was waiting for financial aid to save the day and it never came. I know how that goes. For some damn reason financial aid in the summer is weird, they space it out over two payments. Anyways….I convinced to come down and told him that we wouldn’t go to San Fran because that was too expensive. We were just going to spend it in LA and check out the surrounding area.
He agreed to come and we had a blast! The first night he got here we were off to dinner at my favorite Mexican Restaurant in West Hollywood, Merix. Jet-lagged and all Rafael was ready to party. We called up my friend Mariano and we went bar hopping. We went through about 6 bars (FuBar, Mickey’s, Motherlode, the Abbey, Here Bar, and Rage). We were going to check out the skanky TomCat theatre but it was closing in an hour and we decided to drive around. BTW Mariano was really drunk and really, really wanted to go in!
Friday we decided to chill out and take it easy since we drank way too much on Thursday. We spent the day @ Six Flags! I know it’s like the second time I go in a month. I really liked it when I went with my coworkers so I wanted to go with Rafael since I had some free tickets and I missed the majority of the rides. We had soo much freaking fun. We rode everything except for three rollercoasters. BatMan we rode twice in a row. It rocks to go to these places during a regular weekday. It was so empty. After a couple of rides Rafael had to blow chunks. He said it was because he hadn’t eaten but we all know it was because he can’t take the rollercoasters any longer. My favorite ride that day was the DeJa Vu. That ride was nuts. I can’t wait to go back and ride it again!
We were exhausted when we got home. We ordered some food and just chilled around the house. We didn’t even go out. The party continued Saturday which was my birthday. We decided to do Santa Monica and walk around the 3rd Street Promenade. It reminds me so much of Lincoln Road. We were having a really nice time and we had a birthday lunch at Gaucho Grill. The place was yummy. The food was excellent and the waiters were so freaking hot. I decided that I wanted to take a tour of Argentina sometime in the near future Mariano was going to join us but he forgot his wallet so we never saw him.
We headed back to my place where we got ready for the night’s festivities. We went to SilverLake to check out the bars over there. We went to FaultLine and MJ’s. Faultline is my favorite leather bar. No attitude and lot’s of hot guys to look at! Lots of fun. Ocassionally they have a performance or two which is lots of fun to watch. MJ’s is a dance place nearby. The music was super load and I’m not a big fan of dancing clubs. I like bars better myself. We didn’t last long there. After MJ’s we decided to go to the nearby BathHouse called Flexx. It was pretty dead that night and there wasn’t much going on. The only thing that was fun was jumping in the jacuzzi and relaxing my aching feet. I hadn’t walked this much in months! There was no action here!
Sunday we were having brunch at the French market on Santa Monica Blvd. The plan was to go to San Diego for the day and possibly stay the night. While we were eating our brunch this couple sat at the table next to ours. We chatted for a while and they told us that our best bet would be to go to Palm Springs since it was closer and the traffic would be managable! Just like that we changed gears and I called the guesthouse that they recommended to make reservations for that night. In about two hours we were there. I could not believe how hot it was. It was like 110 degrees. The wind felt like a blow drier. The place was beautiful though. There were mountains everywhere and it looked like a sleepy village. The actual hotel, Warm Sands Villas, was ghetto ghetto ghetto. It was full of old men and the place looked like the 70’s were still going strong. We should have waited until we got there before blindly placing the reservation. We still had fun besides the ghetto accommodations.
We had some food at Hamburger Mary’s (Las Hamburgesas de Maria) and walked around downtown for a while. It was so freaking hot we almost passed out. We went back to the hotel where I soaked in the pool for a while and Rafael dissappeared into his room. Later that night we decided to go to Toucan’s which is a gay bar which has drag shows. We stuck around for the two shows. They were really good! I was expecting the worse but the shows were very good. It looked like a tropical forest from the inside of the establishment.
After the club we decided to check out another guesthouse which had day passes. It was called Camp Palm Springs. This one was very nice. It had two pools, two jacuzzi’s, and a sex room. It wasn’t too active but there were a couple of people going about. I didn’t get down with anyone as I spent much of the time in the jacuzzi again! Next time I come to Palm Springs I’ll get a room here. It was a really nice place and it was right in downtown. After a while we decided to go to our room and sleep for the night.
The next day we made a day trip to Joshua Tree National Forest. It was breathtakingly beautiful. There were kiosks everywhere talking about the wildlife there but I didn’t see one snake, coyote, or bug. It was all very serene. I saw lots of people camping all over the place. It would be great to do this with a group sometime. We spent about two hours driving through the trails of the park before we headed home to beat the traffic. We were exhausted that night and decided to stay in since Rafael was leaving Tuesday morning.
The next morning we had brunch at Joey’s and then I sent Rafael on his way. We both had a great time and it is one of the best birthdays that I have had in a while. I’m loving Southern California so much! I think I’ve definately found home!

This saturday we had a fun committee event at work in Six Flags: Magic Mountain. It was a little far from my house but we had soo much fun! It was amazing. The day started at 9:30am and I ended up leaving at like 6:30pm. By the time I got there it was 10:30am. A small group of people were already there. As usual not even half of the people who said they were going to show up showed. The company paid for the ticket for the employee and a guest and they paid for food vouchers for everyone. With all that people still didn’t want to come! Crazy I know.
It was great for us because the people that didn’t show up meant that I got free tix to use for the rest of the year. So now I have five tickets to use until the end of the year. I was a little scared at first because it had been a while since I had been on a rollercoaster. The last time actually was when I went with Luis to Bush Gardens. And we were still in College!!
The first rollercoaster was a little scary but then I got over it. It was the tamest one that I rode and it was called the Viper. The loops don’t bother me. The scariest part for me is the first drop. It’s usually the highest one and I always get this feeling of helplessness when I’m right about to go down it. I did get over it though and had a blast.
The second rollercoaster we went on was the Goliath. This one, as the name implies, was gigantic! The drop was like twice as big as any rollercoaster I’ve been on. As soon as you drop you go back up and drop again. This one rocked!!
The last rollercoaster that I went on was the Scream. this one had our feet dangling and was the best one. It had so many twists and turns. Unfortunately with the waiting in line, break for two lunches, and waiting for the group to get there in the morning, we were only able to ride three coasters!!!
Not to worry though because I have those free passes and I’ll have to use them again real soon!
I knew I would like the park when I first got there. The park is a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. It was a shame that not that many people from work showed up. We have 30 something employees and only about 7 showed up with a guest. Ricardo and I spent most of the morning waiting for people to let them in through to the park. We should have organized it a little better, but oh well! My favorite rollercoaster was a tie between the Goliath and Scream. Goliath was crazy because it had such a big drop. The scream was cool because it had your feet hanging and it was a very smooth ride!
It’s crazy to me how close the park is to LA. It’s about 45-55 minutes from my house. it feels like I’m living in a combination of Miami and Orlando. They have so many theme parks here and I plan to visit them all My next theme park is going to be Knott’s Berry Farms. I also want to check out Disneyland, even though they tell me that Disney World in Orlando is a lot better. it will be cool to check it out and compare both. I also want to check out California Adventure and see what that’s about. During the summer California residents have a day-hopper pass where you can go to Disney and California Adventure with the same ticket. I think that’s the route I’ll take

I recently got a promotion at work to Technical Manager of the IT Department. It’s been great! I am so happy that I have moved up the company so fast. Hands down moving to Los Angeles was the best move that I have made in a very long time. I miss my friends and family, but with some little magic, and a lot of luck I might get them over here at least a couple of times!
We have a fun committee at work and I joined it recently. The first off-campus event we are doing is Six Flag’s Magic Mountain. I’ve always wanted to go there and now I get to for free with my coworkers! It’s going to be awesome. My team has gotten really close lately. We even went out for drinks last Friday. Every had a really good time and I felt part of the group. It was awesome. I’m taking my camera for the Six Flags trip so I can snap pictures of everyone passed out and puking after the rollercoasters. I used to love rollercoasters when I was younger, now that I’m older I get a little more scared and a little more dizzy! But I’m still crazy enough to ride them again
I’ll post the pictures as soon as I get them all processed! By that time I’ll have my new Powerbook laptop! I really still can’t believe how quickly I’ve been converted into an Apple head! My parents were so awesome. They bought me the 17″ laptop for my birthday. They wouldn’t even let me pay half of it! They are so crazy. On a realted note my mom just finished winning $3,000.00 bucks at the Seminole HardRock Casino! She is damn luckly. She must be feeling really good now! All I have to do now is win the California lottery so I can buy a big house and invite the family and friends to live over here!!! That would rock.
Albert, my exboyfriend, came to visit me last Wednesday. He was taking a tour of California with his boyfriend and they stopped in LA for two days. I was a little surprised to find that his boyfriend was black. It’s no big deal just was an interesting surprise. His boyfriend’s name was Carey too which was kind of funny. He was a really cool guy. We went to dinner at my favorite Mexican place Merix. They loved it. We then headed over to the Abbey for a couple of drinks. It’s the nicest bar in LA. I then took them on a whirwind tour of some other bars. We went to the Motherlode which was a nice neighborhood bar.
Then we went to Mickey’s. They had strippers showering with soap studs. They had the hottest fucking stripper too. I have him way too much money. He was beautiful and had an enourmous cock! Did I mention they don’t wear any clothes when they take showers at Mickeys!!!! Mickey’s is definately my favorite stripper bar. My other favorite bar is FuBar.
My newest technology gadget that I love, and I know there are lots, is the Magellan Roadtrip 700. It’s a portable GPS navigation system. It’s hella awesome! It’s the same one that I used in the Hertz Car Rental when I came to visit Los Angeles for an apartment. The system is very intuitive and it’s portable so you can take it from car to car. I decided to get this type of solution instead of a factory built one because it’s cheaper and usually the stand alone model can do more! I’ve very impressed with it and I can’t wait to use it more! It has over five different languages and two different voice tones, a female and a male one. The first big test will be my San Francisco trip. I’ll see how good it is during that trip
I went to the Hollywood Bowl this weekend to see Cher. I have seen the show before in Miami but it was nothing like this. The venue was what made it amazing. It was outdoor and it was huge. The best part is that we had a picnic before. It is tradition to have a picnic at the Hollywood bowl before an event. It was so cute! I went with Jim, Joe, Alberto and his boyfriend, and Angel. We had a great time. At the end of the perfomance there was a huge fireworks display. I definately want to go back to the Hollywood bowl. The acoustics were amazing and the scenery cannot be beat.
Luis wasn’t able to make it to my birthday San Francisco trip. Rafael is still coming and we were thinking about cancelling the hotel and just staying in Los Angeles to save money. Unfortunately I missed it by a day so they would take my deposit if I canceled. So we decided we are going to San Francisco no matter what! I know Rafael is nervous about the expenses but it’s an experience he is not going to forget! I haven’t been to San Francisco in a couple of years so it will be a treat for me too! I just have to make sure I budget for it
My goal is to write in my blog at least three times a week. I’ve been neglecting it for far too long. I’ve been so busy trying to get acquanted with my new home I also want to cover some old topics that I never got to write about lately. Look for those coming soon.
